an ode to piping

***Geek post alert***

I’ve just started my Sewaholic Hollyburn skirt using black suedette and decided to add piping to the pockets. Oh my god, I love it! I’m pretty certain this is the start of a long love affair between me and piping.

Take a look at my sneak preview below. I made it using mustard-coloured corduroy bias binding from MacCulloch & Wallis on Dering Street. I went there yesterday lunchtime, having first tried Cloth House and Liberty looking for piping cord and just the right bias binding, without success.

I made the piping and inserted it into the pocket seam last night. I had never made or inserted piping before so I was so scared that it would all go hideously wrong, but it worked a treat! Isn't the colour lovely?

Right, time to get on with it!

    1. Thanks love! Yes I hadn't seen it before either and was worried that it would be too thick and hard to use, but it's so good! x
